October 2025 GHPB Commerce Club Luncheon

Join the Greater Houston Port Bureau at the Commerce Club luncheon on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with guest speaker Brooke Millard, CEO, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance 

Brooke Millard is the CEO of Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (“CGMA”), the U.S. Coast Guard’s official relief society.  She joined CGMA following a 21-year Active-Duty career as a cutterman and writer in the Coast Guard. With twelve years at sea including two commands afloat, Brooke led her crews on deployments supporting Homeland Security missions, such as migrant and drug interdiction, from Greenland to Colombia.

The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (“CGMA”) is the official relief society of the US Coast Guard. While CGMA works closely with the Coast Guard, it is an independent nonprofit charitable organization. For more than a century, it has been the lifeline for the Coast Guard community. Since 1924, the nonprofit has provided more than $250 million in direct financial support — including $50 million over just the last five years. During the 2018–2019 government shutdown, CGMA delivered $8.4 million in relief to more than 6,200 Coast Guard members and families. CGMA is entirely donor-funded.

In pay halt events, CGMA has supported Coast Guard families who need help by promoting financial stability and general wellbeing, fostering high morale, and encouraging a sense of loyalty to the Coast Guard. It provides a way to extend compassion to one another in times of need. It serves as a vital financial safety net, offering interest-free loans to help with important bills like rent, insurance, and daycare.
