Seaboard Marine recently added three state-of-the-art Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbor cranes to support operations at its terminals at the port of Houston (Jacintoport) and Port Miami, further strengthening terminal cargo handling capacity at two key U.S. gateways.

The cranes feature high-rise tower configurations, allowing for greater reach across vessels, a lifting capacity of up to 104 metric tons, enabling them to handle the heaviest containerized loads, and custom support pads designed to meet the terminal’s specific operational requirements. The new equipment enhances container and multipurpose cargo operations, improves berth productivity, and supports faster vessel turnaround during peak periods. Designed with electric-drive readiness, the cranes also position Seaboard Marine’s terminals for future energy and electrification initiatives, complementing the company’s LNG-powered vessel fleet expansion.

“At Port Miami, where Seaboard Marine handles more cargo than any other carrier, the investment supports continued growth in container and refrigerated shipments,” said Richard Rodriguez, vice president of terminal operations. “At the port of Houston, the additional capacity will support our multipurpose service model and competitive transit times.”
