PB Maritime Happy Hour

We are excited to announce our upcoming PB Maritime Happy Hour event on November 17, 4:30 – 6:30 PM at the Houston International Seafarers Center.

Dana Blume
Executive Director 

Dana Blume has been executive director for the Houston International Seafarers Center ("HISC or Center") since 2017. The HISC is a ‘home away from home’ for seafarers visiting the Houston port by meeting their spiritual, social and physical needs through support, assistance and fellowship. They visit ships 7 days a week, 365 days a year, securing resources for transportation, various communication service tools, building relationships and providing a safe harbor for all seafarers. 

Chartered in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s as a non-profit organization under the laws of the State of Texas, the Center has served over a million visiting seafarers. The Center exists as the result of a deep desire and concern within the local maritime industry, followed by active support and involvement of the community and local churches, to provide a safe and welcoming recreational and spiritual environment on land for those who have chosen the sea as their livelihood. 

Each year HISC distributes 8,000 to 11,000 shoebox-sized gifts are donated by community churches, school children, individuals, and corporations from Texas and the Midwest, to seafarers visiting the Houston port during the holiday season. These boxes are filled with toiletries, snacks, and other essentials providing comfort to seafarers, reminding them that they are not forgotten while far from home. We encourage attendees to bring early and mid-career employees from their organization as their guests. This is a free event and includes food and drink. Please be respectful if you can not attend after making a reservation, please notify: alavorgna@txgulf.org as there may be a waiting list for people who do want to attend. Note to attend you will have show ID at the Port Houston gate to access HISC.
