Barbours Cut Entry Gate Traffic Flow Update; Reefer Export Pool Chassis Requirement Postponed

Member Updates,

Notice provided courtesy of Port Houston

On February 8, 2022, Port Houston's Barbours Cut entry gate traffic flow and driver process changes slightly to help bring online new scales and new temporary security TWIC check lanes. This phase of changes is a significant step forward in the gate expansion project at Barbours Cut.

Additional changes will occur in the upcoming weeks and months as construction nears completion.

The Barbours Cut entry gate will now provide the driver with their Drop-Off and /or Pick-Up ticket at the first stage. The second stage (previously the scale lanes) will be converted to the TWIC check lanes.

Port Houston thanks you for your patience and cooperation as they reach the final few months of the gate construction.

Reefer Export Load Pool Chassis Requirement Rule Indefinitely Postponed

In an effort to avoid further disruptions to the supply chain, Port Houston is also indefinitely postponing the return to the rule requiring a pool chassis be supplied at the terminal for all reefer export loads. It will no longer take effect February 14.

All aspects of the supply chain are feeling the impact of limited equipment availability. Port Houston's terminals will continue to service export reefers brought in on owned/specialized chassis to the best of our ability. Please be prepared for delays as we work through the equipment shortages in our area.

Port Houston is committed to providing world-class customer service and continues to evaluate long-term solutions.
